Tiles Building Materials

Building Material Tiles
Since the ancient times of architectural understanding, tiles have played an important role in functional solutions and aesthetic pleasing elements.

Tiles are usually thin, square or rectangular coverings manufactured from hard-wearing material such as ceramic, stone, metal, baked clay, or even glass.

The most commonly used are ceramic tiles due to its many and different applications. There is also porcelain tiles. Porcelain is a finer example of clay ceramic tile. Made of a higher ratio of silica and quartz and baked or fired at a higher temperature.

Glass tiles are a great choice for backslash or shower tiles, it has the highest level of stain resistance. Marble tiles are often considered one of the most expensive types of natural stone tiles.

Uses:
Tiles are often used to form wall and floor coverings and can range from simple square tiles to complex or mosaics. Tiling stone is typically marble, onyx, granite or slate. Thinner tiles can be used on walls than on floors, which require more durable surfaces that will resist impacts.
